Our history

  • During more than 60 years the Colombian furniture factory Scanform S.A. has honored the idea of its Swedish founder to launch and produce furniture of a distinct Scandinavian influence.

  • In the beginning, Scanform produced only chairs, designed by Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian architects by means of international patents and based on royalties. A substantial part of this production could be successfully exported thanks to the fine materials used – exotic tropical woods and leather.

  • Adding to the refined design, these chairs were also knock-down. Their wooden frames consisted of round poles with drilled conical holes in which entered joining rods with conically shaped ends, no need for screws or fittings.
In 1977 Scanform became the pioneer furniture maker in Colombia to introduce the process of form-pressed multi-layered veneer by HF-heating. With this new technology Scanform could produce elements of great resistance and configuration, impossible to achieve with solid wood. And now the company could renew completely its product assortment and thereby increase its exports.
  • With a growing national market, Scanform in 1986 Also became a factory of surface furniture, such as desks, meeting tables, auxiliary tables and shelving systems.

  • Así que en 1986 se inició el desarrollo y la fabricación de escritorios, mesas de reuniones, mesas auxiliares y bibliotecas.

  • At present, Scanform´ s assortment includes executive offices, freestanding operative office systems, meeting-room furniture, conference systems and a collection of operative chairs, chairs for reception areas, lounge chairs, chairs for cafeterias and restaurants, easy chairs and sofas. Scanform was now ready to compete in the multiple contract market.

  • Our company´s committed workforce has always been a key factor for our growth. Today, Scanform has two showrooms, one in Bogotá and another in Medellin and various distri-butors in Colombia and abroad.
